Watermelon Pop Corn for Kids.

I just love popcorn and so does my daughter. I have used freshly prepared watermelon juice along with chervil/parsley/cilantro juice for making this popcorn, hence extremely healthy for kids. I am so glad it came out just great and my daughter also likes it. This is a great snack or dessert for kids. Please try it. Hope your kid likes it too. Thank you.




Ingredients:


  1. For Making PopCorn:
    • Corn Kernels - 1/2 cup
    • Vegetable oil - 3 tsp
  2. For Making the watermelon sauce:
    • Watermelon Juice - 1 cup
    • Honey - 1/3 cup
    • Sugar - 2 cups
    • Butter - 2tsp
    • Baking Soda - 1tsp
  3. For Making the Chervil/Cilantro/Parsley sauce:
    • Chervil Juice - 1 cup
    • Honey - 1/3 cup
    • Sugar - 2 cups
    • Butter - 2tsp
    • Baking soda - 1tsp
  4. For the final presentation:
    • Raisins.



Preparation Steps:


  1. Make Pop Corn
    • Heat oil in a pan.
    • When oil is hot, put the corn kernels
    • Close the lid tightly
    • Cook for a minute until all the kernels have popped
    • Discard the unpopped kernels.
    • The popcorn is ready.
  2. Make Watermelon and Chervil Juice
    • Steps to make Watermelon juice:
      • Cut slices of watermelon.
      • Place the slices in a thin clean cloth.
      • Squeeze the cloth and collect the juice in a container.
    • Steps to make Chervil juice:
      • Wash the chervil and place the leaves in a blender and blend to a smooth paste.
      • Add water if required.
      • Transfer the smooth paste in a thin clean cloth.
      • Squeeze the cloth and collect the juice in a container.
  3. Make Watermelon Caramel Sauce and Chervil Caramel Sauce
    • Mix watermelon juice, sugar, honey and butter in a pan on medium high heat
    • Mix well
    • When it starts bubbling, dont mix. Allow it to cook.
    • Drop a few drops of sauce in cold water. When it forms semi solid crystals, add baking soda and mix well. The Watermelon Caramel Sauce is ready.
    • Please note: Only for watermelon caramel sauce, I added a little colour as it became very pale.
    • Repeat above steps with chervil juice instead of watermelon juice and the chervil caramel sauce is ready.
  4. Make Watermelon and Chervil PopCorn 
    • Pour the watermelon caramel sauce on the popcorn and mix well.
    • Spread the coated popcorn on a greased foil and let is cool to room temperature.
    • The Watermelon Popcorn is ready.
    • Repeat above steps with chervil sauce instead of watermelon and the Chervil PopCorn is ready.
    • Enjoy the Watermelon and Chervil Popcorn.
