Dough Making - Activity for kids.

Comments (1) | Wednesday, 15 October 2014

Whenever I am in the kitchen, my daughter is there. She loves to watch me cook. So, I thought of making this a fun activity for her. Whenever I make dough for chapati, I give it to her to help me and she does it with so much joy I can't express. Ofcourse, I do the most work but I give her enough time to play around with it whenever possible.

Today, I made Puris with carom seeds for breakfast and my daughter helped me with the dough (atleast that is what she thinks, he he he ;-)). Just make sure you put something below the vessel and give the largest vessel in your home so the cleaning process is not too tedious.

Please try it with your kids and I am sure they will love it too.

Semolina and CornMeal Idli with Veggies and Yogurt

Comments (0) |

Idli is a very healthy dish for kids. So, I try to make variations and make it as healthy as possible for my kid. Hence, I came up with this dish - Semolina and CornMeal Idli with Veggies and Yogurt. I have used green beans, carrots and onions along with semolina, corn meal, rice and yogurt. You could serve it however your child prefers - as it is or with butter or cheese or ketchup or coconut chutney. My daughter loved it, thank God! I hope your kid also likes it. Please try it and let me know your experience.
Thank you.

Veggie Pasta Soup with Arrow Root Powder

Comments (0) |

Like most kids, my daughter also likes pasta/noodles. So, I decided to make a healthy soup using a few fresh colorful vegetables, wheat pasta and arrow root powder instead of corn starch for thickening the soup. I did not use soy sauce as this is for my kid. I loved the final look and taste. My daughter drank the liquid and ate the pasta but didn't eat the veggies much maybe because she is just 1 year and 10 months old. So I am planning to make a paste of all the veggies next time I make this soup. Also, I am very sure that as she grows up, she will love the colorful veggies in this soup as well. Please try this soup and let me know your experiences. Thank you.

Watermelon Candy

Comments (0) | Sunday, 12 October 2014

For this candy, I have used freshly squeezed watermelon juice for making the inner red part and freshly squeezed chervil juice for the outer green part. You could use parsley or coriander leaves instead of chervil. I have not used any artificial colors because watermelon and chervil have such beautiful colors, I didn't want to undermine them and I wanted to keep it as healthy as possible for my daughter.
I thoroughly enjoyed making these candies and eating them. Hope you like it too.
